‘Considerable interest’ in York Hotel

The estate agents selling the former York Hotel in Portstewart have revealed that there has been ‘considerable interest’ in the property.

The hotel ceased trading back in January.

The closure of the four star hotel, bar and restaurant, came as a shock to the entire community.

Many elected representatives spoke out at the time saying that it was their hope that the property would be bought over quickly and be ready for trading for the summer season.

The guide price on the hotel is offers offer £575,000.

The York Hotel is in a prime coastal setting.

It is finished off to a modern standard, and includes a two kitchens, a function room plus eight en-suite bedrooms.

Mark Carrron from Osborne King said that The York is attracting considerable interest.

He said: “The York has traded strongly in the past and was popular with both local residents and visitors to the area.

“It’s a bright, modern, well-equipped property that offers the successful buyer a “ready-to-go” business proposition and, in particular, the opportunity to re-open quickly and take full advantage of the seasonal trade.

“Portstewart and the surrounding area attract many holidaymakers and tourists due to the variety of activities on offer and the spectacular scenery and coastline.

This particular property benefits from its location overlooking the Atlantic.

“So while we are expecting strong interest from licensed operators, it is also attracting interest from developers on account of its setting on a 0.35-acre site.”
