A public consultation is being held until July 17 to identify the most suitable pattern of hours in the libraries concerned. It is proposed that opening hours will be reduced from 54 and 50 hours to 45 hours accordingly,to help meet current budget demands. The new hours will be implemented in November.

For the consultation, people are invited to complete a questionnaire which can be accessed at any of the 14 libraries affected or online at www.librariesni.org.uk

Chief Executive Irene Knox said it was not an ideal situation, but plans had to be made to budget for the year ahead.
