Contents of charity box stolen during ‘shameful’ burglary at Cookstown business

A worker at a Cookstown business has hit out at the “appalling” theft of money from a charity bucket for Action Cancer.

It is understood that Cookstown Caravans was targetted on Monday night and the premises damaged in the incident.

An office worker said online: “I detest the damage and the inconvenience caused but I loathe the one act that is unforgivable - THE THEFT OF THE CONTENTS OF THE ACTION CANCER BUCKET!!!

“Yes you read that right they stole the charity money. Cancer charity money!! #disbelief #appalling #shameonyou”

But in a considerably charitable gesture the caravan business said it has decided to have Black Friday sale, from which it promises to donate 15 per cent of all shop taking to the charity.

A police spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a burglary at commercial premises in the Cloghog Road area of Cookstown on Tuesday, 24 November.

“Police are investigating a possible link to burglaries/attempted burglary which occurred in Lommond Heights; Coolnafranky Park and Wesbury Drive areas of Cookstown.”
