Continental market returns to Lisburn

AS the smell of the freshly cutgrass fills the air so too will the aroma of many global culinary treats as the Continental Market injects seasonal gastronomic splendour into the retail experience in Lisburn.

Arriving in the city on Friday May 25 and staying until Sunday May 27 the market will be a colourful addition to the city in its temporary home at Lisburn Square. Trading each day from 10am to 7pm and 1-6pm on Sunday this is your chance to experience the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the famous market.

Sponsored by Stena Line, the Belfast Continental Market tour brings a fresh and cosmopolitan charm to the outdoor market experience across the province. Now in its third year it is fast becoming a symbol of Spring, not only with Northern Irish shoppers but also for tourists and visitors to the island.

The award winning Belfast Continental Market, has been a festive fixture in the grounds of the Belfast City Hall for the past seven years. Struck by the distance people travel each year to experience the global offerings, Market Place (the organisers of the Belfast Continental Market) decided to take the market on the road.

Chairman of Lisburn City Centre Management, Alderman Allan Ewart welcomed the return of the Continental Market to Lisburn and the boost it would bring to local retail.

He said: “The Belfast Continental Market tour is an excellent initiative, which brings something different and diverse to Northern Ireland.

“It helps attract visitors to towns and city centres, and we are delighted by prospect of the shopping experience this offers our residents and also by the boost it will give to our local retail economy. In this celebratory year it’s great to be able to show off quality attractions such as the Market.

“We hope this will also attract people to Lisburn to see what great shops and services are available here all year round.”
