Contrast between Inver House and Antrim hospital highlighted

A STARK contrast between standards at Larne's Inver House and Antrim hospital has been highlighted during the ongoing public inquiry into the C. difficile infection in Northern Trust hospitals.

One witness told the inquiry how she felt her mother - who contracted the potentially fatal infection in Antrim hospital - was subjected to "degrading" treatment while a patient there.

By comparison, when the elderly patient was transferred to Inver House, the experience was "like going from a grotty bed-and-breakfast to a five-star hotel", the inquiry was told.
