Controlled explosion on viable device in Co Derry as security alert continues
The security operation in rural Drumsurn is continuing and is expected to remain ongoing into tomorrow morning.
On Friday searches in the area uncovered a suspicious device on the Legavallon Road. A controlled explosion was carried out and it has now been determined that this object was a viable explosive device.
Detective Inspector Stuart Griffin said: “I would like to thank the people of Drumsurn for their continuing support and patience while we have dealt with this security operation over the last two days and I ask that this continues as this lengthy operation carries on into tomorrow.”
