Convicted of causing damage to vehicle

Bruno Antonio Da Veiga Marracho Pinto, Ashfield Manor, Portadown, had denied a charge of criminal damage on March 3, 2014.

He was due to appear last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court to contest the matter.

However he failed to appear and the case went ahead in his absence.

The court heard there was a dispute between two Portuguese nationals in a car park.

One alleged that the defendant approached his car and kicked it a number of times, causing damage to a wing mirror.

He claimed it cost in the region of £1,000 to repair the damage.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, convicted the defendant and fined him £500.

He was also ordered to pay £1,000 compensation for the damage caused to the vehicle.
