Cookstown High fourth match win

Cookstown High School 1st XI 9 –

Methody 1st XI 0

COOKSTOWN easily defeated Methody College on Saturday morning to record their fourth win from four matches in the McCullough Cup.

Ryan Millar was the star of the show with three superb finishes and countless good passes and tackles. Cookstown started quite strongly but without much end product until Millar crashed the backboard with a reverse. Sloan then came on after 10 minutes and scored 2 before half time to make it 3-0 at half time.

Cookstown upped the tempo and soon the goals started to flow with Millar firing two reverses into the top corner to complete his hat-trick. Sloan then finished off a good team move to complete his treble before Donaldson, Tony Johnston and Paul Johnston found the net to complete the scoring.

The team have two games remaining against Regent and Wallace and are hoping to continue to improve and win all of their group matches to ensure a more favourable home semi-final. The boys would like to thank Mr Haycock for coaching and Mr Cuddy for umpiring.

Squad: Gillis, Kirkpatrick, Rollins, Crooks, P Johnston, Ferguson, I Johnston, Millar, T Johnston, Sloan (captain), Watt, Donaldson, J Anderson, C Anderson, Nelson, R Johnston.
