Cookstown man faces string of theft charges

A Cookstown man charged with a string of theft offences had his case adjourned pending a psychiatric report.

Tiernan McKenna, whom the court recorded as being of unknown age, from Coolnafranky Park, appeared at Dungannon Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

The defendant faces six charges of theft which are alleged to have taken place across two days in Cookstown and Dungannon.

He is accused of stealing goods to the value of £56 from Tesco, Cookstown, goods worth £6.50 from Poundland Cookstown, and goods worth £23.48 from Lidl, Cookstown on July 14.

He is also charged with stealing good worth £9 from Sainsbury’s Dungannon, good worth £14 from Tesco’s, Dungannon, and goods worth £1 from Poundland, Dungannon in December 2013. His case will be heard again in Dungannon Magistrate’s Court on December 19.
