Cookstown man had bag of cannabis hidden between his buttocks
East Tyrone Magistrate’s Court heard how police were on mobile patrol in the Cookstown area on October 11 last year when they came upon the defendant, Dean Warwick, 22, from Forth Glen, in the car park at Cabin Wood, close to the Dungannon Road roundabout, at around 11pm.
Mr Warwick was sitting in his Peugeot car with the engine running.

Hide AdThe police noticed the smell of cannabis emanatating from the vehicle and asked the defendant to exit the car.
When he did so they noted that he was unsteady on his feet and was slurring his words.
He quickly admitted to having smoked a joint and then told the constables that he had “a bag of grass between his buttocks”.
This was retrieved and Mr Warwick was arrested for possession of a class B drug.

Hide AdMr Jason McLaren, defending, told the court that his client was in full time employment and had a child on the way.
He said that the defendant had completely ceased using cannabis since his detection.
Noting previous entries on his record for possession in 2008 and 2012, District Judge John Meehan handed down a fine of £200.
He further ordered that the seized material be destroyed as well as imposing a £15 court levy.
