A detective constable from the PSNI told the court that he believed that he could connect the defendant to the charges.

Mr Stephen Atherton, defending, asked the officer if he could confirm that his client had, at the outset of his interview with police, stated: “It wasn’t me. I was at my mother’s all day. This is a case of mistaken identity.”

District Judge John Meehan remanded the defendant to custody before adjourning the case until June 29 for a bail application.
