Cookstown shop robbed at knife point on Tuesday night, culprit flees on BMX

A member of staff at a commercial premises in Cookstown has been left badly shaken after being robbed at knife point on Tuesday night.

Detectives said the robbery took place on Chapel Street at around 10.15pm, when a young man entered the building and demanded that a sum of money be handed over before making his getaway on a BMX.

He was described as wearing a red hoodie, black tracksuit bottoms with a scarf around his face.

Police said that he also has a very distinctive limp and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector David Hallawell said: “I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident to contact Detectives in Cookstown on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
