Cookstown teen facing attempted robbery charge bailed on tag

A Cookstown man, charged in relation to the attempted robbery of a Sandholes service station, has been released on bail.

David Mark Cunningham, 18, from Riverside Drive, appeared at East Tyrone Magistrates Court via video link from the Young Offender’s Centre at Hydebank.

He stands accused of attempting to rob the owner of a Sandholes shop of money on February 11.

A constable from the PSNI told the court that police would be open to bail as long as strict conditions were imposed.

Releasing the defendant on £300 bail, District Judge John Meehan stated that Cunningham live at Riverside Drive under a curfew of 10pm to 8am. He will be electronically tagged.

He is not permitted to be in Sandholes or have contact with any witnesses.

The case is adjourned until August 10.
