Cookstown’s Lissan Coal Company wins £10m deals to heat 10 of the 11 new super councils

Although the contract for the eleventh council - Mid and East Antrim District - is still to go out to tender.

The company, which owns the Go chain of filling stations, also powers the Stormont Estate, all of Northern Ireland’s street lights, museums and the BBC.

And in the last year has gone from employing a team of seven at its Cookstown headquarters, to an astonishing 55 staff with the opening of a new office in Belfast.

Now one of Northern Ireland’s top electricity suppliers, the firm has a third of the market share.

Its contract with DRD for street lights is valued at £12m a year, while the combined value of contracts to provide power to 10 of the 11 super councils is around £10m a year.

Government buildings contracts, which include Stormont, all Northern Ireland museums and the BBC sits at £4.5m per annum.

LCC’s Shauna Forbes said the company is proud of having developing such a major portfolio of customers within such a short period.

The LCC Group was established in 1986, and is the leading solid and liquid fuel importer and distributor on the island of Ireland.

The company established LCC Power in April 2012, and in the past year has experienced a period of rapid growth.
