Copper thieves wreak havoc in Magherafelt house

Police in Magherafelt are appealing for information about a burglary during which extensive damage was caused to a house.

Sergeant Sam Young said that sometime between 5.15pm on Monday, 20th, and and 8.15am 0n Tuesday, a house under extensive renovation on Station Road in Maghera was entered.

Entry was gained via a front window and a large amount of damage was caused and large amounts of new copper stolen.

He added: “The persons appear to have been working within the property for some time. There is security fencing, which means the persons had to go in on foot and that any vehicle would have had to be stationary on the actual road.

“A vehicle would have to have been present at some point to take away the stolen piping.”
