Corn snakes found in vacant house: Police

POLICE had to remove two corn snakes after they were discovered in a vacant property in Mosside.

The slippery creatures were found in a box by the keyholder of the house in Mosside Gardens last Monday (February 15).

Officers, accompanied by the USPCA, successfully removed the reptiles.

USPCA spokesperson confirmed that the snakes were 'being kept in a safe place and being well looked after'.

He continued: "Corn snakes are not poisonous and posed no danger to the police and USPCA officers involved in the operation in Mosside.

"Corn snakes come in all different colours and do not grow very big. They are normally kept in an aquarium."

A police spokesperson added: "We believe the owner of the snakes left them behind after moving house. It was the keyholder who found the creatures."

It is understood that the snakes may have been in the property alone for sometime.
