Corrymeela gets Skype thanks to NIE

Since its inception in 1965, Corrymeela has developed into an international known organisation and maintains important links with USA, Israel, Palestine, and South Africa. Corrymeela attracts volunteers from all over the world and it also has partner organisations working together on peace projects: it also has two offices in Northern Ireland and one in Great Britain. It is against this backdrop that telecommunications for Corrymeela becomes a high priority.

As a charity it becomes expensive to invest in modern technologies. The Northern Ireland Electricity’s Staff and Pensioners Charity Fund has funded a dedicated Skype facility to enable meetings and communications which will be cost saving for Corrymeela and enable the charity to maintain links more effectively. This facility is now installed for local, national and international online meetings, volunteer interviews and video conferences.
