Cost of mayoral transport outlined

“At the council meeting in September 2015, it was agreed that mayoral transport would be provided on the basis of shared provision between the Mayor’s own car and a lease car - two thirds lease, one third the Mayor’s own car,” a spokesperson for the local government authority commented.

“The lease car was based on an saloon type car, a Vauxhall Insignia, with no additional modifications.

“The total annual cost of the car, to include monthly lease, tax, fuel, insurance, cleaning and so on, was estimated in the region of £16,000.”

Meanwhile, the mayor’s car includes a driver, who works on an ‘on-call’ basis.

“The additional costs are estimated at around £10,000 per year,” the spokesperson added.
