Costa to open second shop in Lisburn

The multi-national coffee chain Costa Coffee will be opening a second Lisburn branch next week at the Leisureplex, it has been announced.

Great news for Northern Ireland as Costa coffee, the nations favorite coffee house, will open 3 new stores creating 40 new jobs, with additional staff, over the next few months.  The stores are located at the Kennedy Centre, Belfast, Lisburn Omniplex and Holywood Exhange.

The new coffee shop will be opening in the former Harry Ramsdens shop at the Leisureplex and will have a definite ‘family friendly’ feel.

The shop is expected to open its doors next Saturday (November 30) and is currently seeking new staff.

The new store will be 2,000 sq ft and will be a family oriented store with plenty of free surface car parking and easy access.

It will also have free wifi, as do all Costa Coffee branches.

The Lisburn store is one of three new branches opening, with the others being located at the Kennedy Centre and Holywood Exchange.

“Not only will we be offering a top quality product and service but anyone who joins our team will benefit from our excellent staff training which includes a dedicated core skills trainer and the opportunity to train at our Barista Academies in Dublin and Cork.

“Our talented Baristas also have the chance to take part in the Costa Barista of the Year and represent Ireland in the world finals which are held annually at our Roastery in Lambeth,” she added.

The Chairman of Lisburn City Council’s Economic Development Committee, Alderman Allan Ewart, welcomed the news that Costa Coffee would be complimenting the current shop in the Bow Street Mall with a second city centre shop.

“I’m delighted to see the expansion of Costa Coffee into Lisburn Omniplex,” said Mr Ewart.

“This new investment comes from an employer known for its first class training opportunities, and brings with it new jobs, and a boost for investor confidence in the city.”

These three new stores will bring the Costa stores in Northern Ireland to 21 and the employment of 250 people.

Costa Coffee, through the franchise partnership with MBCC Foods Ireland Ltd, opened their first store in Northern Ireland in 2004 at Belfast City Airport.
