Coulter urges older people to visit benefits event

MLA, REV. Dr Robert Coulter has encouraged as many people as possible to visit a series of information days across Northern Ireland to help older people claim benefits they may be missing out on.

One of the events is being held in North Antrim - at Ballymoney library on Wednesday 10.00 am - 3.30 pm.

Rev Dr Coulter, who celebrates his 81st birthday this month, is the unofficial Deputy Father of the House at Stormont, being the second-oldest of the 108 MLAs.

Rev Dr Coulter is just a few years younger than the Father of the House and his fellow North Antrim MLA, Rev Dr Ian Paisley, now Lord Bannside.

Dr Coulter said: “As the second oldest MLA at Stormont, I have taken a special interest in the challenges facing older people, especially now that surveys tend to indicate that people are living longer in Northern Ireland.
