A number of grants are being made available to organisations hoping to celebrate the historic era between 1913–23, and tell the stories of how lives were impacted by events locally.

The council has approved £50,000 funding which includes £10,000 of small grants up to £1,000 to support community activity, and two large funds of up to £20,000 for events to commemorate both the Easter Rising and the Battle of the Somme.
