Council approves name for new residential development in Jordanstown

Members of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council's Community Planning and Regeneration Committee have approved a name for a new residential development in Jordanstown.

The committee agreed on the name of Oakfield Park at their meeting on Monday, March 7.

Three names had been presented to the committee for consideration. These were Jordanstown Park, Jordanstown Road Park and Jordanstown Road Village.

Cllr David Hollis, who was not present at the meeting, sent correspondence to the council asking for an alternative name comprising Oakfield to be considered.

Alderman Pamela Barr agreed with the TUV representative and proposed the name Oakfield Park. This was seconded by her DUP party colleague, Cllr Paul Hamill and agreed by members.

The development, comprising of 14 dwellings, will be a mixture of detached and semi-detached homes. They will be constructed at 85 Jordanstown Road.
