Council asked to approve Bushmills scheme

A MOYLE Council report this week asked councillors to approve the completion of the Hamill Terrace project in Bushmills.

The report said: ‘Councillors may recall that Hamill Terrace in Bushmills (Council property) was the subject of a renovation project by Bushmills Community Association.

‘The Association were successful in gaining grant aid from ‘Groundworks’ and the Council agreed to match this.

‘Because of budgetary constraints at that time this was not possible so it was agreed to split the project into two discreet parts allowing the Council to complete their section in the next (2009-2010) financial year.

‘Groundworks did complete their section. However, the Council section was again put back for another year at the rates meeting in February 2009.

‘The Community Association are naturally anxious to see the completion of this project and are therefore requesting that Council now apply the capital funding - which was set aside at this year’s rates meeting and earmarked for community groups carrying out projects on Council property - to complete their part of the work.

‘The estimated costs at the time were 48,396. These of course would have to be subject to revision,’ said the Council report.
