Council backing for Dervock Re-Imaging Project

BALLYMONEY Borough Council has confirm its previous commitments to the Dervock Re-Imaging Communities Project.

During a recent Full Council meeting, members also agreed to apply for the necessary planning permission.

The Director reviewed the project and then circulated plans of the proposed ‘finalised’ piece, which had both funder and community approval, to be placed on Council land at Dervock Riverside Park.

He advised that were Council also to be content with the proposal then a planning application would be made, with a view to having the piece in place as soon as possible.

The Director reminded members that in order for the project to be realised Council would, as it had previously agreed, have to undertake certain ‘work in kind’ such as providing the base, granite setts and floodlighting. He also reminded members that there would be an on-going commitment as regards the cost of electricity into the future.

It was proposed by Alderman Frank Campbell and seconded by Councillor Malachy McCamphill.
