Council charges go up

MINIMAL increases are to be made for the hire of council facilities.

Council officers recommended only a slight increase in certain services in order to retain bookings and encourage new users.

The 'difficult' economic conditions were mentioned for the hike in prices, however, the council is also offering a range of new services.

For the coming year to hire the top floor of the town hall will cost an extra 1, at 15 per hour.

The youth rate for a normal room in the town hall for groups of 15 or more will increase by 50p to 5 per hour.

And the stage technician rate per two hours will increase by 2 to 30.

There is also a slight increase in the rates per head for refreshment facilities, up 25p.

An increase will also apply to the youth rate for groups of 15 or more at all community centres to 5 per hour, up 50p.

Most other charges have remained the same.
