Council events aim to promote business growth

AS PART of Global Entrepreneurship Week (November 12 - 18) Newtownabbey Borough Council is hosting a series of events to promote enterprise in the local area.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a worldwide initiative which takes place each year and is used as a medium to enable organisations to raise the profile of entrepreneurship in their area.

The council, in association with MLN Champion Firm, Bailey Waste Recycling, is inviting local businesses to a ‘Revive to Thrive’ networking event on Monday, November 12 at 6.30pm, which will feature professional speaker and business author, George Mordaunt.

“George speaks with honesty about the rise and fall of his car dealership business. Following rapid expansion from 2004 - 2007 the entire organisation started to collapse as a result of the global financial disaster. George will share his experiences, and more importantly, what he has learned from them. He is back on track with the revival of his business and believes that adapting to your environment, creativity, decisiveness and research are some of the ways to pull back from the brink,” a council spokesperson said.

Throughout the week a series of challenge workshops will be delivered to schools in the borough by Full Circle Management Solutions. Through the workshops, students will be introduced to the concept of entrepreneurship and will be encouraged to use their enterprise skills to realise their entrepreneurial potential.

Anyone wishing to attend the networking event should contact Jean Shortt on 028 9034 0017 or email [email protected] as soon as possible as booking is essential.
