Council funding for Carfest

BALLYMENA Council is provide £5,000 for the annual Carfest event in the town.

The money provided to the event will be for promotion and marketing of the council at the event.

Minutes from the council’s Economic Growth and Development committee, held in March, reveal that council was unable to provide funding on previous occasions but as an alternative, in 2012 had purchased through a service level agreement, a promotional marketing package at an agreed price of £5,000, which included the council logo on all literature and advertising, media press releases and radio adverts.

The minutes reveal that this year, organisers of Carfest had requested £10,000 for the promotional marketing package.

However, councillors agreed to provide £5,000 for the marketing costs, with the matter approved by council when it was ratified at last week’s monthly meeting.
