Council hit out at 'mindless' arson attack

THE Mayor of Ballymoney has condemned the 'mindless' arson attack on a Community Rescue bus.

The vehicle, which was only officially unveiled less than two months ago, was discovered burnt out on Saturday, October 2.

During a recent Council meeting, Cllr Bill Kennedy said: “This unit was a tremendous asset to the local community and the Community Rescue volunteers.

“It cost around 50,000 which was raised by the local community and paid tribute to the life of Stranocum teenager James Elliot. How mindless people can destroy something so important beggars belief.

“However, we, as a Council, will support those involved and encourage them to rise from the ashes and continue their work. Together we can and will put this whole situation back together again.”

Councillors Frank Campbell and Harry Connolly joined many other councillors in offering their disgust and support for the Rescue Team.
