Council issues flag reminder

NOW that the summer has come to an end, Lisburn City Council is asking communities across Lisburn to remove flags from within their local areas.

In 2005, the Council agreed a set of principles, with agencies and community representatives from across the city, designed to take a common sense approach to flag flying.

These principles have served as guidelines on flying flags and only flying flags within an agreed timeframe of between June and September.

The Council acknowledges the progressive work of all groups who have made progress in this area in recent years.

Lisburn City Council would ask for the removal of flags from arterial routes and the Council is optimistic that local communities will behave responsibly in the removal of these flags as soon as possible.
