Visiting one of the sessions, Leisure Services Committee Chairman Alderman Paul Porter commended all involved in establishing the programme. “The variety of activities provide the ideal opportunity for older individuals to become involved in new exercise regimes and become both physically and mentally healthier.

“Those participating will also make new friends and hopefully get together outside of the gym or fitness class room.

“Regular exercise is very important and offers the ideal opportunity for those who have perhaps taken early retirement to stay social and fit.”
