Council mulls over £300k loans

Councillors are deliberating on requests for Department of Finance loans totalling over £300,000 for coastal projects.

A health and safety audit requires the removal of asbestos from the old whiting mill and erection of fencing to secure Gortin quarry.

Part of the sum is to help finance new community, heritage and tourism facilities at Carnlough library, but the request has been set aside pending award of a tender for the scheme, which has a £288,616 budget.
