Council Staff Raise Over £500 for UNICEF East Africa Children’s Appeal.

Staff at Ballymoney Borough Council wish to express their sincere gratitude to those people who supported their Soup Kitchen in Aid of UNICEF’s East Africa Children’s Appeal.

Organised by Jean McPherson and Cathy Watson, who also cooked the soups, the event was very well attended across three sittings and so far, over £500 has been raised, with donations still coming in. These funds will help UNICEF to provide vulnerable children and their families with essential emergency provisions such as medicine, food and clean water.

Speaking after the event, Jean McPherson said: “Myself and Cathy are overwhelmed by the response to today’s Soup Kitchen, from our work colleagues, our Councillors and representatives from our partnerships. A massive thankyou goes to our colleagues, who helped to peel potatoes, chop tomatoes, cut bread and wash dishes or helped in any way to ensure our event went as smoothly as it did. And a special thanks to TESCO for generously sponsoring the ingredients for the soups.”
