Council to increase community centre charges

BALLYMENA Council is set to increase the cost of hiring several community centres in the borough.

Councillors have agreed that a five per cent inflationary increases be applied to the hire of council community centres in Ahoghill, Ballykeel, Cullybackey and Harryville.

The matter had been discussed at the council’s Economic Growth and Development Committee in March, with councillors discussing options for council facility charges.

At that meeting, councillors were advised that the charge increases were being proposed for the four community centres in order to address maintenance costs.

The matter was then ratified by full council on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, charges at Arthur Cottage and Portglenone Marina are to remain unchanged.

Hire charges for the ecos centre are also to remain at their current rates.
