A Lurgan councillor has set about tackling the weed ‘epidemic’ in the town.

DUP Councillor Carla Lockhart is working alongside council to address the issue.

She said: “I have been increasingly contacted by constituents concerning a weed epidemic within the borough and therefore I want to tackle it head on with the help of council.”

“I am delighted that council are this year for the first time in a long number of years spraying weeds and endeavouring to get a handle on the paths and footways that are covered in weeds and I would like to assure residents that all areas will be treated with due care and attention however, I would welcome any requests concerning specific areas.

“There needs to be a joined up approach with council, elected representatives and communities in tackling this problem and I for one am determined to try and have our borough looking its best for our rate payers.”
