Councillor welcomes fireworks seizure

Councillor Carla Lockhart said: “As a young person I would appeal to fellow young people not to get involved in the use of illegal fireworks over the Halloween season.

“Fireworks can be very dangerous particularly the illegal ones that are being sold unlawfully throughout our Borough.

!Fireworks can cause severe injuries if not used in a controlled and supervised manner “Several years ago I witnessed firsthand through a friend the damage and destruction that fireworks can cause if handled incorrectly”.

She went on: “I would commend the PSNI on their find of illegal fireworks in Woodville Street and would encourage anyone who has any information on such activity to report it to the PSNI.

“Additionally I would call on everyone to be vigilant and to look out for your neighbours, particularly the elderly who are very vulnerable at this time of year."
