Councillor welcomes traffic calming for Cargan village

Glenravel councillor Paul Maguire has welcomed the recent installation of traffic calming measures in Cargan village.

“This scheme comes as a result of a meeting myself and Daithí McKay, MLA, had at Stormont with Roads Minister Danny Kennedy, at which he approved both this and the reduction of the speed limit to 50mph at the chapel,” he said.

“Under the programme of improving safety at schools, new signage with integrated flashing lights and additional road markings were provided at St. Mary’s Primary School in Cargan. These works will give drivers additional warning of the presence of the school and should impact positively on road safety in the village.”
