Councillors back Dromore High School newbuild planning approval

Dromore High School took a step closer to securing a new home last night when outline planning approval for the proposed replacement school sailed through Banbridge District Council.

The Planning Service’s recommended apprroval won unanimous backing among councillors.

Dromore Councillor Paul Rankin was among the first to applaud the outcome.

He said: “I welcome the great news that an outline planning application for the new Dromore High School build, at the Quillyburn site, was recently approved by the Planning Service and progressed through Banbridge District Council Public Services committee on Monday evening with unanimous support.

“This is an extremely important step towards the realisation of a new High School in Dromore.

“In particular I would commend the Principal of Dromore High School, Mr John Wilkinson, who has spearheaded the campaign for a new High School build.”
