Councillors call for grave repairs

Alliance councillor Billy Webb has called on the council to carry out repairs at the grave of Francis Joseph Biggar at Mallusk Cemetery.

At the monthly Leisure Committee meeting on October 7, Cllr Webb described Biggar as “Ireland’s cultural visionary” and “a very important historical individual”. He said that the grave had been damaged some years ago and asked officers to look into the possibility of having the necessary repairs carried out.

His proposal was seconded by Cllr Ken Robinson, who also asked that the council consider carrying out repairs to frost damage at the General William James Smythe memorial cross in the graveyard at Carnmoney Parish Church.
