Councillors condemn attack on Warden's home

MOYLE councillors have condemned a recent attack on property belonging to a Ballycastle-based Community Safety Warden.

The Sinn Fein Council Chairperson, Cllr Cara McShane, said she would meet with Council officers to discuss what support they could give to him.

She said a number of areas throughout the North would only be too happy to have such a safety warden scheme.

Cllr Madeline Black (SDLP) said there were only a few people responsible for such attacks and she said the feedback from people aghast at the attack had been excellent.

Cllr Oliver McMullan (Sinn Fein) said he hoped those responsible for the attack are caught.

The councillor said the Wardens scheme is working well and he admitted when it first started he was sceptical but he has been won over by the success of the initiative.

Council Vice-Chair, Cllr Robert McIlroy (DUP), appealed for the community to pass on information to the PSNI so those responsible can be brought to justice.
