Councillors discuss Carrickmore Road situation

MOYLE councillors have been commenting on the situation along the Carrickmore Road at Ballycastle.

Among those commenting were Sinn Fein councillor Cathal Newcombe who said work was carried out on the shoreline and rocks had been moved.

Council Chairperson, Cllr Cara McShane (Sinn Fein), said the Northern Ireland Environment Agency looked at the situation and excavation of rocks had stopped.

She said there had been an issue about people being able to progress along the route and that a fence had been in place.

She said Roads Service had given a commitment that a right-of-way will be re-established.

She said she was told there had been some vandalism which is why the fence was erected.

Cllr Madeline Black (SDLP) said she had been in the area in recent days and said the right-of-way had been established.
