Addressing Mayor Thomas Hogg during Monday night’s (September 29) full council meeting, Cllr Webb said: “I note that your (DUP) colleague, Cllr Dineen Walker has not been in the chamber since May. If she has not been well could you please pass on our good wishes to her.”

Alderman Hogg moved the meeting on with no discussion of the matter.

None of her party colleagues offered an explanation for her absence.

It’s understood the Macedon representative did turn up at Mossley Mill on Monday evening. However, the council meeting had already finished.

Cllr Walker, who failed to secure a seat on the new super council, has been absent from council meetings since May after she missed out on becoming Mayor amid a row over controversial comments she posted on Facebook.

A council spokesperson confirmed that councillors are paid their basic allowance of £819 per month for up to six months, even if they fail to attend meetings.

The Times contacted Cllr Walker to discuss her ongoing absence, but she declined to make any comment.
