Councillors hold minute’s silence

BALLYMONEY councillors stood for a minute’s silence in memory of a former councillor and a former colleague’s mother.

DUP Mayor, Cllr Ian Stevenson, asked councillors to observe the silence at the main monthly meeting of Ballymoney Council following the death of former councillor William Gracey from Dervock and Margaret Wilson, mother of former councillor Roy Wilson from Rasharkin.

Mayor Stevenson said: “It is with sadness that I learned of the passing of a former member of this Council, William Gracey, from Dervock and I extend to his wife May, daughters Jill and Gail and the family circle our deepest sympathy.

“William served on this Council from 1981-1987 and took an active interest in the welfare of his local community, representing their needs and concerns to Council.

“I also convey Council’s deepest sympathy to our former colleague, Roy Wilson, and his family circle on the passing of his mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with Roy and his family at this sad time.”
