Countdown is on to Fusion kick off

Fusion Theatre have just completed an intensive weekend of rehearsals for their upcoming show '˜The Beautiful Game', which runs in the Island Hall next week (September 7-10).

Previously entitled ‘The Boys in the Photograph’, this show is full of love, loss, violence and football.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton story follows a group of teenagers in 1960’s Belfast and shows the changes that happen within their team and throughout their community. On stage we have a wedding, a funeral, a football match, murder and a riot.

The company have been busy promoting the show over the last few weeks and have had help from some local stars including West End star and ex-fusioneer Joanna Hyndman, and the legend that is Northern Ireland World Cup star Billy Hamilton.

Fresh from her time in one of most popular West End musicals, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, Joanna has lent her support to ‘The Beautiful Game’.

Joanna, who trained at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London before treading the boards in the West End, was cast in the Union Theatre production of ‘The Beautiful Game’ in London in 2014, so she knows what a great show it is from experience.

Billy Hamilton, star of Northern Ireland’s World Cup team in both 1982 and 1984, now runs a trophy and engraving shop in Bangor.

Billy was very keen to help Fusion promote the show as football is his passion. He was growing up and played in a time where conflict in Northern Ireland was rife. Billy has very kindly sponsored a trophy for the show and the cast are very grateful of his support.

As ever Fusion are extremely grateful to their sponsors, cast, parents and helpers and of course the wonderful local audience.
