Deputy Mayor of Limavady James McCorkell recently took part in a presentation as part of Limavady District Loyal Orange Lodge Numer Six’s application for Flagship Status for this year’s Twelfth of July celebrations.

Mr McCorkell said that Limavady can expect a huge tourism boost even if their bid for Flagship status is unsuccessful.

“It’s going to be huge”, he explained.

“More than likely, we are going to have around 50,000 people in the town.

“You are talking about 85 lodges converging on Limavady. Normally we only have bands from nearby places such as Londonderry and Coleraine. This year it is going to be at least twice that size. We have applied for Flagship status. We are competing with very good bids from elsewhere, but even if the bid for Flagship status for Limavady is not successful, we are still going to see a massive benefit for the town this year.”
