Couple struck by car in Hill Street

There was shock in Lisburn this week after a couple were knocked down in the area on Sunday evening.

It was reported that a couple were struck by a Nissan Micra car at around 5.20pm on Sunday November 24.

The pedestrians, a man and a woman, suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

It is understood the man sustained a fractured skull and was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital. However, the hospital have said that, at the time of going to press, the man was in a stable condition.

The couple both work in Greens Foodfare in Bow Street and owner Rowan Black said everyone was looking forward to having them back as soon as they had recovered.

“They are both excellent workers,” he said. “They are both turning a corner now thankfully and they were lucky they weren’t killed.”

Staff at Greens Foodfare were left shocked after two of their colleagues were struck by a car and seriously injured last weekend.

Owner of Greens Foodfare, Mr Rowan Black, said: “It has been a great shock for everyone here and we wish them well.

“It will be a long road to recovery but we look forward to having the, back again,” he added.

An investigation into the incident is underway and police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have information to assist them with their enquiries.
