Court hears tale of harrassment

SENTENCING was deferred at the local Magistrates Court on a Ballymena woman who became embroiled in a dispute between her older sister and another woman.

In one incident, Daniella Termonia complained to the manager of the injured party’s work that the injured party had pushed the defendant down the stairs.

Termonia (21), of Dalriada Walk, admitted a harassment charge, relating to date between August 2008 and February last year.

The injured party alleged that Termonia had come into her workplace on several occasions and followed her around the shop, calling her names, as well as making the stairs allegation to the injured party’s manager.

The defendant was warned by police about her behaviour but in February 2009, police took a second statement from the injured party who said Termonia had shouted loudly at her while the injured party was in Ballymena town centre, causing her embarrassment.

Barrister Richard Smyth said: “This was really a history that involved her older sister and the injured party. The height of the allegations are verbal abuse.

“It is something you might encounter in a school playground - one person says one thing and another person says another.

“There appears to be a complete cessation of any antagonism between the parties,” added Mr Smyth. Deferring sentence until May 6, District Judge Des Perry told Termonia: “I want confirmation that there has been no bother between yourself and this young woman.”
