Court: Motoring and public order offender

A Fahan man charged with 11 counts of dangerous driving, theft and criminal damage, was remanded in custody until December while the Garda Síochána await direction from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

In the dock at Buncrana District Court on Thursday was Mark Fair (25), with an address in Ballinahone. He was brought into court from the custody suite.

The defendant is charged with dangerous driving at Bonemaine, Bridgend, Magherabeg, Tievebane and Ballyderowen, all in the Burnfoot area as well as at Carrowmullin and Glebe Large and Castle Quarter in Fahan and Ludden, Buncrana, and all occurred on the same date, namely December 4, 2014.

The 25-year-old defendant was also charged with threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour at Ballyderowen in Burnfoot, as well as the theft of an empty beer keg, which he took from the Halfway House, Tooban, also on the same date.

Further to those charges, Fair was also charged with a count of criminal damage at Lisfannon on August 15, 2012, as well as breaching his bail conditions on March 12, 2015. On that occasion, the court heard, an International Bench Warrant had been issued for his arrest.

At Buncrana District Court, Inishowen Garda Síochána Inspector, David Murphy, said Gardai were awaiting directions from the DPP on a number of the charges.

Judge Paul Kelly remanded Fair, whose parents were in court, in custody until December 10 for further directions from the DPP,
