Courts grant first resident with ASBO

IN February the Courts granted the first Antisocial Behaviour Order for a resident of the Ballymoney area following a Police application.

The news was revealed during a recent District Policing Partnership meeting held at Riada House.

Outlining the Ballymoney Area Command Unit three monthly report John Magill, Chief Inspector explained: “Under the Local Policing Plan our aim is to establish a Baseline of the number of antisocial behaviour incidents. Between April and June 2011 there were 163.

“Our officers worked in partnership with statutory agencies, community and voluntary groups to address antisocial behaviour through both education and enforcement. Details of some of the diversionary activities can be found in Section 1 of this Report.

“In February 2011 the Courts granted the first Antisocial Behaviour Order for a resident of the Ballymoney Area following a Police application. Several other individuals have been subject of Acceptable Behaviour Contracts.”
