McCollum replied “no” when asked by the court clerk if he wished to say anything in answer to the charge.

He also indicated “no” when asked if he wished to tender a written statement of evidence.

A lawyer for the Public Prosecution Service told the court that the accused has a prima facie case to answer.

District Judge Francis Rafferty released McCollum on £500 bail to the date of his trial.

The judge made it a condition of bail that he has no contact either directly, or indirectly, or through a third party with prosecution witnesses.
