Prosecuting counsel said on arrival police noted that three passers-by had stopped to provide help.

She said police noticed a strong smell of intoxicating liquor and when the defendant spoke her words were slurred.

The lawyer said O’Hagan refused to provide a preliminary specimen and spat at a constable striking him on the leg and spat at another officer striking her body armour.

While being taken to hospital she shouted that the police were Protestants, and her disorderly behaviour continued in the hospital and she had to be removed from the building.

Counsel said she was later asked to provide a specimen of breath and refused.

A defence lawyer said the defendant had been drinking following an argument with her ex-partner.

He said she admits having disgraced herself in the hospital and is ashamed of her behaviour.
